KUALA LUMPUR, 2 April – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the CENTRE FOR CORPORATE STRATEGY AND RELATIONS (PSPK), donated Raya clothes to 125 students of Sekolah Bimbingan Jalinan Kasih (SBJK), Chow Kit, today.

In addition to the clothes, PSPK also provided daily wear essentials and festive cookies to share joy and cheer with the students in anticipation of the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

SBJK is a school established to provide educational access to street and marginalized children around the capital city who have dropped out of school.

Associate Professor Dr. Moniza Waheed, Deputy Director of PSPK UPM, stated that the donation was not just about providing Hari Raya necessities but also sharing empathy and care with those who need it the most.

“The joy and cheer of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration should be shared with everyone, regardless of rank and status. However, for vulnerable groups, it may be just another day without any special feelings.

“Therefore, this donation indirectly gives the SBJK students a special Aidilfitri experience, allowing them to remember the joy of wearing new clothes during the celebration.

"It also brings happiness to those who might not have families to share the festive joy with," she said while representing PSPK UPM in delivering the 'Berilmu Berbakti' contribution.

The program, with the motto 'One garment, many smiles: give with heart, share with soul,' is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by PSPK to support UPM's Putra Bakti program and community and industry networking activities.

Additionally, such programs can raise public awareness about the issues faced by vulnerable groups or impoverished urban children living on the streets and less fortunate.

"This program teaches the values of love, care, and humanity to future generations within the community. Hopefully, this contribution will positively impact the community.

"Thank you also to all parties, especially Mydin Subang Jaya Hypermarket, Ashvertising Marketing, Embroidery Zone, and all UPM members who generously extended their assistance in various forms, supporting this program, and sharing their blessings with the SBJK students," she said. - UPM
