In the rapidly evolving digital era, the use of the National Central Database System (PADU) has become a crucial necessity for the Malaysian government in effectively managing and analyzing citizen data. This system not only serves as the core of government operations but also plays a role in strategic decision-making, policy planning, and understanding the needs of the populace. However, data accuracy can be a concerning issue that may compromise the integrity and reliability of data analysis. Inaccurate or incomplete data can lead to incorrect conclusions or detrimental decisions. Therefore, emphasizing data accuracy is essential to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of national development.
User errors in data entry are the primary cause of data inaccuracy. This can occur due to low awareness or technical issues during data collection. Data confusion and privacy issues also pose obstacles in data sharing between citizens and the government. Concerns over data leakage make citizens inclined to be dishonest when entering data. Additionally, the PADU system involves the integration of 314 data sets from various government agencies to form a comprehensive individual profile. A poorly integrated PADU system can result in inaccurate data duplication or data loss during the transfer process.
Several strategies can be implemented to address the issue of data inaccuracy in PADU. The government needs to raise awareness about the importance of data accuracy and best practices to maintain data integrity. Furthermore, data security controls should be tightened periodically to prevent breaches. System developers should also encourage more comprehensive system integration to avoid inaccurate data duplication or loss during data transfer.
Enhancing data accuracy in the PADU system is a crucial step in advancing efficient data-driven transformation and leading towards effective development. By taking measures to overcome challenges in maintaining data accuracy, the government can optimally utilize data to make accurate decisions, plan effective policies, and provide better services to citizens. Ultimately, this effort is not just an investment in technology, but also an investment in a better future for Malaysia.
